Hello Swansea University Canoe Club.
Here we have t'first residential trip of the year.
Dont worry! its not far away, we take advantage of t'gorgeous gower beaches on this weekend as we embark on an adventure to introduce you to surf kayaking and/or Sea kayaking. We are hoping for lovely weather but we cant promise owt.
On day 1 (saturday t'15nth), we will meet at t'shed at the sports village at 9am morning. We will then head straight to the beach (whichever has the most promising surf) to get in and get gnarly.
Your kit will be provided as im sure our lovely kit officer (Ewan Boddy) will sort you out and if you have your own your may take it.
Once we have paddled our hearts out and had a fabulous time we will then head to the campsite.
Location- Bank Farm Horton.
This is where we shall set up camp and get gazebo'd, pass out and fall asleep.
BUT, before that we will be heading to a pub to get merry, eat a hearty meal and get to know your fellow paddlers. As well as a few games and gentlemans sports.
In the morning, we will get our shkit together and go surfing again before heading back to the lovely swansea to dekit and catch up on sleep.
YOU WILL NEED
- All the kayaking kit you ca muster personally and through the club (will be organised on the day)
-towel (A towel, says, is about the most massively useful thing a kayaker can have. Partly it has great practical value. You can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold beaches of swansea; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of the gower, inhaling the heady sea vapors; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so bright; use it to sail a kayak round a headland with good wind; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious farts or avoid the gaze of the Ravenous old boys (such a mind-boggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.
-Warm clothes
-pub clothes
-Money for alcohol and snacks.
Price: £25.00
This price encompasses the cost of camping, evening food on saturday and breakfast on sunday morning.
See you on the trip!
